“After attending Journey to the Heart in August of 2008, I had what seemed an insatiable desire to memorize God’s Word. The Challenge sparked an interest in me of memorizing with others. As soon as it was over, I purposed to try to start my own when the time seemed right.

National Christian Forensics and Communications Associations“Later in the year I started to plan a Debate Workshop for students in the National Christian Forensics and Communications Associations (NCFCA). I wanted a way to give the students a small scholarship, but I wasn’t sure how it should be given. I prayed that God would give me a way to help students pay for the Workshop that would be creative and not a giveaway. Then, God reminded me of the Challenge, and how we had been encouraged to put our own on. I myself just happened to be due to start memorizing James 3 on my own schedule. James 3 just happened to be about Godly communication. Students from NCFCA just happened to be in a Christian communications league. And a memory Challenge just happened to be a neat and easy way to give people a discount for the Workshop. Surely, God was the one as work here, and not chance.

“The James 3 Challenge was graciously hosted on our regional NCFCA forum, and a few of the students finished early to call for their rewards. But the rewards are not merely monetary, but spiritual. One of the forum members has said how she now realizes that memorizing isn’t as difficult as before, and that she would like to memorize more and may start her own challenge on the forum.

Tim“I would strongly encourage you to start your own memory challenge. You can use a blog, ask an administrator of a forum, use Facebook, or just start one among your friends. Whatever the method, God will reward your efforts to hide His Word in your heart.”

“This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success.” (Joshua 1:8)
