While meditating on this verse, the Lord brought to my mind Proverbs 20:6. A faithful person does not think that he “knows it all.” Instead, he is willing to listen and learn. This requires humility.
The Lord challenged me in my responsibility to share with others what He has taught me. I have been richly blessed by the amazing insights that you all have shared on this website! Keep it up!
Thank you Tammy for your challenge to us! It was a blessing to meet you on the Sept.’07 Journey. Your mature Christlike character was a wonderful encouragement!

Thank you for your exhortation, Tammy!
“Faithful” in the Greek also means “trustworthy.” When entrusted with a message from my King, would I be a faithful and a trustworthy subject to “teach others also”? As I do, am I faithful to continue? And as Kendalyn said, am I even faithful to pass on the lessons the Godly leaders in my life have taught me? This has provoked me to be even more faithful. By being faithful, we can “war a good warfare.” (I Tim. 1:18) I am challenged to also have a humble and a teachable spirit.
Tammy, I remember meeting you on our Sept. ‘07 Journey Thank you for your example of one who has been faithful!

This verse intrigued and terrified me because of the impact it has on our witness and words. Paul exhorted Timothy to pass on what he has heard of and from Paul. Could I have said that to others? “Pass on what you hear about me from other people, or the things I have said to you.” This is the often unspoken responsibility of Christians.

What a powerful reminder to put our fear,and our pride aside, so that we can be willing to teach, and to be taught. The Christian life is a sequence of those two things, and the more we strive to do them, the more like Christ we will be. Thanks Tammy!

Notice how Paul adds “among many witnesses” to verify the truth of what he had taught Timothy. The Greek word for witnesses is first used in the Bible in Matthew 18:16: “in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.”

Verse one speaks of grace: “the desire and power to do God’s will.” What is God’s will for His children? It is revealed in verse two: we are to make disciples! So how do we become disciple-makers? Very simply, by learning to hear the Word of God and to pass on what we hear. May the Lord give us hearing and sharing hearts.
